The company was born in 1978 thanks to an idea Arturo Masoero, a draughtsman with a particular passion for food and cuisine. With his brother he founded a restaurant that soon became famous for the pasta dishes of the local tradition, such as agnolotti and tajarin. He did not prepare the dough himself though: Mrs. Marina, a so-called sfoglina, a lady who could prepare the dough and different pasta shapes following the traditional recipe was the only one in the restaurant who could prepare the dough.
For this reason, Arturo Masoero decided to resume his skills as a draughtsman: he wanted to build a special automatic pasta machine to substitute his sfoglina when necessary. To reach this goal he started to devote his free time to the creation of a motorized pasta machine that could reproduce the handmade pasta. This is how La Monferrina was born.
The company has been producing professional pasta machines since the first dishes of tajarin made by the automatic pasta machine got the approval of the customers. In 1978, Arturo Masoero started his new adventure: the manufacture of commercial pasta machines for restaurants and pasta makers. Starting as a small family-run company, La Monferrina soon became a leading name in the production of automatic pasta machines.
